According to the Rigveda, Sri Suktam also known as Lakshmi Suktam is a devotional hymn dedicated to Goddess Lakshmi. Maa Lakshmi is the goddess of wealth, prosperity and abundance and recitation of Sri Suktam is one of the best ways to invoke and worship Maa Lakshmi. It is believed that the one who recites Shri Sukta in front of Shri Yantra never suffers from poverty.
The letters, syllables and words of the fifteen verses of this hymn collectively form the sound body of Lakshmi, the presiding deity of this hymn. Mata Lakshmi (one of the members of Tridevi) is also known as Shri which means embodiment of auspicious qualities.
