Early Life of Tenali Ramakrishna

Tenali Ramakrishna was born on 22 September 1479. He was born in the Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh and belonged to a Brahmin family. The name of his village was Tenali, on the same lines his name was also named Tenali. At the same time, his father Garalpati Ramaiah used to be a learned person. He used to work as a priest in the Ramalingeswara Swamy temple located in his village. At the same time, his mother’s name was Lakshmma, who was a duodenum.

Tenali’s father died in his childhood, due to which all his responsibility fell on his mother. After the death of his father, his mother came to live with his brother. Since childhood, Tenali was a devotee of Shiva, that is why he was also called as Tenali Ramalinga. But later he adopted Vaishnavism. Tenaliram also had a very close friend named Gundappa.

Teachings of Tenali Ramakrishna

Tenali Ramakrishna becomes a great poet in future but the most surprising thing was that he was illiterate. Despite this, he mastered many languages ​​like Marathi, Kannada, Tamil and Hindi. He was a worshiper of Shiva at first but later he started believing in Vishnu and adopted Vaishnavism. It is said that Tenaliram adopted Vaishnavism, due to which he was not accepted as a disciple in the Gurukul. People say that once a great saint asked them to worship Kali, when they did a lot of penance for Kali, they got the boon of a comic poet. In his early days, he used to work in the Bhagwat Mela Mandali.

Tenali Ramakrishna and King Krishnadev

King Krishnadeva had an important role in the life of Tenali Ramakrishna. The pair of these two was considered equal to the pair of Akbar-Birbal. Between 1509 and 1529, Maharaja Krishnadeva Raya was the king of Vijayanagara. Once Tenali Ramakrishna Bhagavata came to Vijayanagara for the work of the fair congregation. It was there that he met Krishna Deva Raya. Actually, King Krishna Devaraya was very pleased and impressed by the performance of Tenali Ramakrishna.

Tenaliram Maharaj was one of the eight poets of Krishna Deva Raya from whom Maharaj used to consult. Whenever Maharaj Krishnadeva Raya got into trouble, the clever Tenaliram used to get him out of this trouble with his wisdom.

Literary Life of Tenali Ramakrishna

Tenaliram may not have been educated but he had acquired knowledge in many languages. Due to which he came out as a famous poet. He composed the Panduranga Mahatmyam, which has been included in 5 epics. He wrote this composition written by him influenced by Skanda Purana.

Tenali Ramakrishna composed many poems and novels. He adopted the name Chatuvu for this. He has also composed religious works in which Udbhataradhya Charitamu is popular in his poems.

Apart from this he composed the poem Palakuriki Somnath which is based on Basava Purana. Two of his stories, Ramalinga and Rayalu, also gained much fame.

In view of his work, he was awarded the title of Kumar Bharti. Apart from this, a Sanskrit poem named Mahishasuramardini Strotam was composed in his honor.
